The Walking Boot

A Corbett is a Scottish mountain over 2,500 feet and under 3,000 feet with a drop of at least 500 feet between each listed hill and any adjacent higher one. There are 222 summits classified as a Corbett, and they are named after J R Corbett, who originally listed them; he was one of the founder-members of The Rucksack Club in 1902 with the object “To facilitate walking tours and mountaineering expeditions, both in the British Isles and elsewhere”.

LAST NO: 1961

Tricker’s commissioned a brand new last to be made by Springline, last 1961. 1961 is a unisex last, as modelled by Adele, our Master Shoemaker, and Michael James, Springline's one and only last man, both of whom are wearing the walking boot in our promotional video. The last time that Tricker's commissioned a new last was to celebrate the coronation of King George VI; this produced our iconic 4444 and 4497s lasts, used for the Bourton and the Stow. Corbett is a 6 fit, which is traditionally a wide fitting. However, when you go for a long walk, your body swells, particularly your feet and hands. Walking boots need to allow for more width while your feet swell for comfort, particularly as they're going to be on your feet for a long time. Traditionally, hiking socks are quite thick. The 6-width allows for both a thick hiking sock and a foot that has increased in size due to exercise. This is a boot that is for everyone.

Walking Boot

We have used Water Resistant Full Grain Calf Leather which is incredible soft but durable. The perfect combination for walking.

Because leather is a natural material, it is not waterproof. You must maintain these boots with dubbin, particularly by backfilling the welt and applying it to the stitching and using neutral wax polish to maintain the leather upper. Wax polish acts like a temporary barrier to the elements, particularly water. Because it's a temporary barrier you should apply it regularly. You should remove any existing polish before applying more. You can do this by rubbing the wax off with a warm cloth.

Pretty good

"Noticeably well made, great material, good look - without a doubt longlasting Falls a bit short on the comfort side, which cannot be fixed with any length of a walk-in period. So, good for lighter to medium walks, not great for actual hikes - mind you, it is called a walking boot, not hiking boots. Worth your money if you know what you're getting."

My new Trickers

"These are by far the best boots i have ever owned, some might say they should be with the price but the quality is on another level. They look amazing and the feel of them is exceptional. this is my 3rd pair of Trickers and it wont be my last i can be sure of that."

Impressive boots

"This is my 13th pair of Tricker’s and the quality continues to impress. These boots feel lighter on the feet which is good considering their purpose as hiking/walking boots. Toe box is roomy but not loose. Out of the box, they have good arch support and improved after a couple of days of break-in. It would be nice if they would include a second pair of more neutral colored laces since orange is limiting, but I just picked up a pair at a local shoe store."

Corbett Walking Boot - Peanut Reverse Suede

"These boots are amazing. The Reverse Suede looks great. It is soft and supple and yet "very" robust at the same time. I've worn them quite a few times now, in positively foul and fair weather, on easy and harder trails. I'm a tour guide and a professional photographer, so I need comfortable, practical boots that still look good for long hours one my feet, these ticked all of the boxes for me. I know they are not cheep but the quality of the craftsmanship is absolutely superb. There is room in the toecap and your heal is well cradled when the boots are on, they also have fantastic ankle support. This all makes the boots super comfortable. I'm a UK 10 and the boots fit me perfectly. There is another important issue for me. Tricker's are a heritage brand that are actually made "in" the UK. When I make a purchase for anything heritage, I want to know that workers from "that" country are the ones employed there. That continuity is important to me as it shows in the quality for us, the end users. So kudos to Tricker's for that please don't change. I'm very happy with my purchase, I hope my review helps."

Beautiful boot with an as-advertised fit

"I've had these for about a month now and I love them. The first time I put them on I thought they were way too big. They are definitely a different fit. I considered ordering a half size smaller. But after trying some different socks and wearing them around the house I decided to give them a try. The neat thing is they have a large toe box, which I love, but I can adjust the laces to get a fit just like my other true-to-size Trickers in the other areas. My heel and ankle feel secure and snug, with no slippage, while my toes have plenty of room to swell during a hike. They are beautifully made as well. They do require a thicker sock, but not like a big mountaineering sock. I'm taking them on a pheasant hunting trip next week and I'm excited to see how my feet to wearing these. Plus, they are just old-school cool."

Excellent Choice - Supreme Quality

"As always with Trickers, super quality construction. Leather is very soft. Luxurious, but technically robust."

Good

"It is a good shoe for everyday use but you must take care of the leather or it will get bad."
