Since 1829, Tricker's has been manufacturing boots and shoes that are made in England, continuing to keep the operation entirely in our Northampton factory using time-honoured handcraft methods passed down through generations. So when Wildsmith approached us to collaborate on a special edition collection, the shared values were clear: quality without compromise, craft without shortcuts, and a strong respect for tradition.
Wildsmith, a name with nearly two centuries of shoemaking history, has long been celebrated for its role in British footwear, notably as the creator of the first loafer, made for King George VI. Like Tricker’s, the Wildsmith story is stitched into the fabric of British shoemaking. Our factories were founded just 18 years apart, less than 70 miles from each other. Both have served royalty. And both remain dedicated to preserving the artistry of shoemaking in a modern world.
This exclusive collection is a meeting point between city and country, a thoughtful reimagining of our most iconic silhouettes, the Bourton Derby brogue shoe and Stow Derby brogue boot, through Wildsmith’s lens. Each pair is handcrafted here in our factory in Northampton, built on Tricker’s signature 4444 and 4497s lasts and decorated with Wildsmith’s distinctive diamond brogue motif. A subtle touch for the discerning eye, crafted for those who appreciate the finer details.
The leathers used are a blend of our most prized heritage shades, Acorn and C-Shade, alongside Wildsmith’s bold use of black and yellow on the sole and pull tab. All are premium calf and polished leathers, selected not only for their quality but their longevity.
In keeping with our commitment to sustainability, the collection features Goodyear-welted construction, ensuring each pair is repairable for many years to come. Vibram Vi-Lite soles offer comfort and performance without compromising the classic Tricker’s aesthetic.
While our paths have often served different terrains, from the house shoe to the walking boot, Tricker’s and Wildsmith share a deep respect for purpose-built footwear, traditional English shoemaking, and sustainable production.
