The Daniel is the definitive Tricker’s tramping shoe, a style traditionally built for the rigors of exploration and long-distance walking. Distinct from standard derby shoes, the Daniel is constructed with "double vamp and counters" - essentially a shoe within a shoe - resulting in a seamless, smooth interior that offers exceptional comfort. It is an honest, unflashy design that prioritises durability and function above all else.

Alb Buffalo: Resilience from the Swabian Alb Born in the rugged Swabian Alb mountain range in Germany, this Alb Buffalo leather is a testament to natural durability. Sourced from the high-altitude landscapes around Hohenstien, these hides are built to withstand the elements.

  • Olivvia® Tanned: Sustainably tanned using an essence from olive leaves, this leather is entirely free from metal traces, resulting in a hide that is as kind to the environment as it is tough.

  • Texture & Handle: The skins are meticulously printed and then oiled to give a luxurious, waxy texture. This process enhances the buffalo's naturally coarse and rugged grain, a feature highly prized by leather connoisseurs.

  • Performance: Known for being exceptionally flexible and breathable, Alb Buffalo leather provides unmatched resilience. The oiled finish offers high natural weather resistance and a deep, matte aesthetic that develops a rich character over time.

Engineered for the Field Built on the legendary 4497s last—the definitive Tricker's country last—the Daniel offers a classic round toe and a roomy, comfortable fit. To complete this rugged build, the shoe is fitted with a Ridgeway Rubber Sole. This iconic British-made sole features large, raised lugs that provide superior traction and stability on uneven terrain, while maintaining a more refined side profile than a heavy commando sole. Finished with a Goodyear Barbour welt, this shoe is built to endure a lifetime of tramping.

SHOE KNOWLEDGE

Tramping Shoe

The Tramping Shoe & Boot is a part of Tricker’s Heritage; made traditionally for pursuits in the British countryside. It’s based on a boot design from 1926.
Made with double vamp and counters, whole cut, perfectly smooth with a seamless inside. The upper is stitched in 80’s thread and a 12’s needle for a more refined finish.

The English aristocracy and titled landowners bought Tricker's typically for weekend use. Tricker's were the first choice for the country where they kept your feet dry whilst hunting, walking (called Tramping) and working in the land.

LAST NO: 4497s

This last has been used for decades. It is part of our history and character as England's oldest shoe manufacturer. The size (length fitting) of Tricker’s footwear made on this last (4497s) is true to size, we recommend sticking to your regular UK size. If you are unsure of your UK size, use our size guide to convert your known size to a UK size.

The last is a hard, three-dimensional form on which the shoe is constructed. Depending on the style of shoe we use different lasts, this is what dictates the overall shape, proportion, fit and character of the shoe.

Buffalo

Born in the Swabian Alb mountain range in and around Hohenstien, Germany, the Alb Buffalo soon became part of the incredible landscape. Known as a tough and resilient leather, Alb Buffalo features hides that are Olivvia Tanned and fully sustainable as well as being exclusive to Trickers.
