The Kilsby is defined by its stitched apron design and heavy-set derby quarters. Built on the legendary 4497s last—traditionally reserved for our iconic country boots—it brings a commanding, high-walled presence to a shoe silhouette. This choice of last delivers a generous, accommodating fit through the toe box and maximum stability underfoot, making it ideal for pairing with heavy denim, corduroy, or seasonal casual tailoring.
Charcoal Coarse Suede: Textured Depth Coarse suede is selected specifically for its rugged, durable character and highly tactile feel.
Heavy, Nap Texture: Unlike traditional fine suedes, coarse suede features a rougher, more prominent nap that gives the shoe an instantly robust, lived-in aesthetic.
Deep Charcoal Hue: A versatile, dark grey tone that bridges the gap between casual and formal. It serves as a sharp alternative to traditional black or brown footwear, pairing seamlessly with winter denim, heavy twills, and contemporary tailoring.
Immediate Comfort: The pliable nature of this premium suede eliminates the intensive break-in period usually associated with heavy country footwear, conforming beautifully to the foot from the first wear.
Full Leather Lining: The interior is fully lined with soft, breathable leather to maintain a comfortable footwear climate and provide excellent long-term structural integrity.
Technical Build: The Featherweight Foundation Engineered to deliver classic British country ruggedness with modern, all-day walking comfort.
Vibram Vi-Lite Sole: Grounded by a Vibram Vi-Lite sole, this expanded rubber compound replicates the commanding profile of a heavy treaded country sole while providing superior shock absorption and an incredibly lightweight feel.
Goodyear Welted: Fully Goodyear welted in our Northampton factory, providing a completely watertight seal and ensuring the shoe can be fully resoled and refurbished for decades.
Charles F. Stead Desert Oasis Suede Leather is championed for its soft, velvety texture, making it perfect for crafting Tricker’s footwear. The raw material is specially selected and tanned to achieve a relaxed, sporty look with a rugged nap, all while maintaining a refined appearance without being overly 'hairy'. This suede leather has a distinctive appeal, with an added light application of oil to ensure an extra silky velour finish.
Not content with just an aesthetic charm, this leather also has an enduring quality. Charles F. Stead's meticulous tanning process ensures that the suede maintains its luxurious texture and appearance over time, making it a valuable investment.
Sometimes blemishes will occur – which enhance the individual pieces and give each piece their unique character.

A derby shoe is characterised by open lacing, which means that the eyelets for the shoelaces are sewn on top of the vamp (the upper part of the boot). This type of lacing allows the boot to be adjusted for a comfortable fit and makes it easier to put on and take off than a boot with closed lacing, such as an Oxford.

Charles F. Stead Desert Oasis suede is championed for its soft, velvety texture and relaxed, sporting character. Carefully tanned, it offers a refined finish with a subtle, rugged nap, without becoming overly “hairy,” and is lightly oiled for a smooth velour feel.
Beyond its appearance, it’s made to endure. The tanning process helps the suede retain its texture over time, while natural variations give each pair a unique character.
