The Tramping Shoe

The Tramping Shoe & Boot is a part of Tricker’s Heritage; made traditionally for pursuits in the British countryside. It’s based on a boot design from 1926.
Made with double vamp and counters, whole cut, perfectly smooth with a seamless inside. The upper is stitched in 80’s thread and a 12’s needle for a more refined finish.

The English aristocracy and titled landowners bought Tricker's typically for weekend use. Tricker's were the first choice for the country where they kept your feet dry whilst hunting, walking (called Tramping) and working in the land.

LAST NO: 6230

This last has been developed specifically for our Women's collection and features are rounder country toe shape. The size (length fitting) of Tricker’s footwear made on this last (6230) is true to size, we recommend sticking to your regular UK Size. If you are unsure of your UK size, use our size guide to convert your known size to a UK size.

Bookbinder

The high shine rub off Bookbinder effect is a coated treatment applied to the leather. Apart from the black, all colours have a darker top and then a lighter shade on the base. During our shoeroom method, we cut back this darker top to bring the lighter shade to the surface giving a two-tone effect. This is created when polished on the mops in our Northampton factory Shoe Room giving the footwear a lustre and gleaming finish indicative of 1930s dress shoes.

Bookbinder is a Corrected Grain. At Tricker's, we source the finest corrected grain leather on the market. The break of corrected leathers is never as natural as with full grain. This break can be made worse across the vamps with ill fitting shoes. The best course of action a customer can take to look after their Bookbinder leather is to purchase shoe trees to keep the shoe in shape and polish regularly to keep the leather nurtured.

Be careful with the aftercare for these shoes. Do not use a renovator as it will strip out the high shine. Sometimes all you need to do is rub these shoes with a clean cloth and they will be beautiful. Less is more with this type of leather.

Another Timeless Pair from Tricker's

"Another lovely pair from Tricker’s! They fit true to size and as always, the craftsmanship is excellent. The Bookbinder leather gives them a polished look, but they're just as happy with jeans as they are dressed up a bit more. That's probably what I like most about them, they're elegant without feeling precious. I own a few pairs of Tricker's shoes by now and they never disappoint. They're beautifully made, timeless and only seem to get better with age. I have a feeling these will be with me for many years too :)"

A Practical Shoe

"This is a shoe that you do not have to treat daintily. It is rugged and capable for getting things done. However, the deer leather is quite soft and comfortable. It molds to your feet and makes for a very comfortable shoe. I very much like these shoes for knocking around at home."

Gretchen C. (4/5)

Beautiful, classic shoes….

"I’m delighted with my new shoes, the deer leather is so supple & comfortable from the off. They’re smart, beautifully made & have a good grippy sole - just what I needed!"
