Leather Care Guide
Bookbinder
- First, insert your shoetrees and softly rub your shoes with a clean cloth to remove any dirt or dust. You may find that this is enogugh for this type of leather, less can be more.
- You can apply a matching colour wax; this will give your shoes a lovely shine finish.
- Dab your cotton chamois and rub the wax in circular motions through your shoes. Let the wax set for a few minutes and rub it off again with a clean cloth.
The high shine rub off Bookbinder effect is a coated treatment applied to the leather. Apart from the black, all colours have a darker top and then a lighter shade on the base. During our shoeroom method, we cut back this darker top to bring the lighter shade to the surface giving a two-tone effect. This is created when polished on the mops in our Northampton factory Shoe Room giving the footwear a lustre and gleaming finish indicative of 1930s dress shoes.
This is a chrome leather
Do not use a renovator on Bookbinder leather because it will strip the high shine effect and you will never be able to get it back again.
